Following graduation in the 1980s with a degree in Graphic Design, I worked as a fashion illustrator, moving to London to be represented by one of the country’s leading commercial artist agents, Meiklejohn Illustration. A variety of freelance commissions followed for many high profile and international clients including: Wimbledon Tennis Championships, The AA, Marks & Spencer, Barclays/Lloyds Banks, British Gas, Evian Water, Royal Mail, The National Trust and IPC magazines. I have also completed numerous illustrations for greetings cards, books and magazines within the publishing sector. I have been a prize-winner in the Vogue Fashion Illustration competition and exhibited at the Association of Illustrators Gallery.
More recently I have been pursuing and developing my personal work. I have exhibited and sold work locally, in open exhibitions and in the Royal Watercolour Society Contemporary Competition (prize winner in 2013 and 2018). I enjoy working in several media; watercolour, pastel, crayon and gouache. Whilst my work has covered a huge range of subject matter, I am increasingly intrigued and inspired by the fall of light on a subject and its ability to mask, hide or highlight. I love to draw and can often be found working away in a sketchbook.
A qualified teacher and having taught at all levels from Adults to GCSE. Currently I have an adult class meeting weekly in term times.
