Following graduation in the 1980s, I worked as a fashion illustrator, moving to London to be represented by one of the country’s leading commercial artist agents, Meiklejohn Illustration. A variety of commissions undertaken for many high profile and international clients including: Wimbledon Tennis Championships, The AA, Marks & Spencer, Barclays/Lloyds Banks, British Gas, Evian Water, Royal Mail, The National Trust and IPC magazines. I have also completed numerous illustrations for greetings cards, books and magazines within the publishing sector. I have been a prize-winner in the Vogue Fashion Illustration competition and exhibited at the Association of Illustrators Gallery.
More recently I have been pursuing my personal work and vision, have exhibited and sold work locally, in open exhibitions and with the Royal Watercolour Society (prize winner in 2013). I enjoy working in several media; watercolour, pastel, crayon and gouache. Whilst my work has covered a huge range of subject matter, I am increasingly intrigued and inspired by the fall of light on a subject and its ability to mask, hide or highlight. I am passionate about drawing, with a great love of colour, light and atmosphere that I seek to express through my drawing and painting.
A qualified teacher and having taught at all levels from Adults to GCSE. Currently I have an adult class meeting weekly in term times.
